Brian Collins is Senior Manager of Change Management in the Real Estate and Facilities group at Microsoft Corporation in Redmond, WA. Mike Petrusky recently visited the campus to learn more about the plans to build a new, modern workplace that will be one the most connected, sustainable, and accessible places where people can do their best work. Mike asks Brian about his CRE career, which began in Dublin, Ireland, and they discuss the many ways that workplace professionals can influence decisions surrounding the human impact of buildings to improve the way people work and live. At Microsoft, hiring a diverse workforce is a priority and the “Supported Employment Program” has a mission to impact individuals with disabilities while filling roles that are essential to success when managing the campus. Brian shares about Microsoft’s culture of inclusion and collaboration and how the real estate team’s strategies can design spaces and leverage technology to deliver an evolutionary workplace that helps employees be effective. Mike asks Brian about his favorite band of all-time, U2, and that leads to another episode of “podcast karaoke” featuring a classic John Hughes movie song!
