Steve Smith, CFM, CFMJ, MFE, DCEP is Director of Physical IT Network at Arvest Bank in Arkansas where he serves in the critical role of managing systems operations for data center and home office facilities. Mike Petrusky asked Steve about trends in FM technology when they met in “Podcast Central” at NFMT 2019 in Baltimore. Steve and Mike agree that personal and professional development are essential for leaders and they share insights and inspiration based on the humility and gratitude they both have found in our facility management community. Steve discusses his views on the trends of connectivity and the rise of mobile technology and handheld devices in the workplace today. Mike believes that a strong foundation of operations is needed before we can create an environment where people can succeed and Steve concurs by recognizing that retention of employees is now part of the FM role.
