Larry Allen Morgan, CFM, SFP, FMP is Director of Facilities Management at SAP in San Ramon, CA where he partners with senior leadership teams to implement workplace programming globally that provides effective and efficient spaces while promoting a common brand and unified corporate culture. Mike Petrusky asks Larry about what is takes to be a workplace leader in today’s world now that FM is seen as a more strategic profession. The key to success, according to Larry, is to create value by applying resources better and “doing the right things instead of doing things right”. Mike and Larry discuss investing in our human capital and the importance of being a lifelong learner through networking and credentials if we hope to be seen as “top talent”. With a more holistic view of the workplace, Larry believes that FM leaders should engage in horizontal thinking across the organization so they are seen as partners with other departments. Mike and Larry both have an interest in music and playing drums, but only one of them can claim to play the instrument in real life, while the other demonstrates his “drum karaoke” skills!
